Will feed in to in an Awards Ceremony in Brazil on November 27
ALAS20, the initiative that seeks to promote sustainable development in business management and investment decisions in Latin America has published the results of its fourth annual Sustainability Study for 2017, which ranks companies and investors across five topics, ahead of an awards ceremony in November this year.
For companies, each is scored a 1 or 0 on whether they can be considered a leading entity on corporate governance, sustainability and investor relations, and whether their CEO and board are also leaders on sustainability.
For investors, the sustainability category is replaced by responsible investment.
The study, carried out between March and April this year, covers five countries: Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Colombia and Peru.
The leading companies and investors scored a total of five points.
In Brazil the top companies scoring a total of 5 were EDP Energias Do Brasil, Embraer and Itau Unibanco Holding.
The leading investment institutions scoring a full five were: Itau Asset Management, Real Grandeza, and Santander Brasil Asset Management.
The results for the other countries were as follows:
Chile:
Companies: Falabella, LatAm, Parque Arauco, Vina Concha y Toro
No investors scored the maximum.
Colombia:
Companies: Cementos Argos, Ecopetrol, Grupo Argos and Nutresa.
Investors: Bancolombia, Fiduciaria Bancolombia, Fiduciaria Davivienda, Porvenir and Proteccion.
Mexico:
Companies: Alsea, Cemex, Femsa, Grupo Bimbo, Grupo Carso, OHL Mexico
Investors: Banamex Afore
Peru:
Companies: Compañía Minera Milpo, Credicorp, Enel Generacio Peru, Ferreycorp
Investors: AFP Integra, Credicorp, Macrocapitales, Scotia Fondos.
The results of the evaluation will be delivered to the Jury of ALAS20 to decide which companies and institutions are winning in each category for excellence in public disclosure of information with the results announced at the Awards Ceremony to be held on November 27, in Sao Paulo. The nominees, all of whom can be found on the ALAS20 website, are evaluated by Vigeo Eiris, the ESG research company
